Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What services does Roots Family Counseling offer?

Roots Family Counseling offers a range of services tailored to individuals, families, and groups. These include individual counseling, group therapy, parenting coaching, telehealth sessions, and specialized programs focusing on teens, early adulthood challenges, and the Circle of Security parenting program. Our goal is to support our clients in achieving happy, healthy, and honest relationships.

How do I know if I need counseling?

Counseling can be beneficial for anyone who feels they are facing challenges they cannot overcome alone. This can include feelings of anxiety or depression, difficulty in relationships, parenting challenges, or navigating significant life transitions. If you’re experiencing persistent feelings of unhappiness, stress, or if you’re struggling with your mental health, counseling might be a helpful option for you.

What can I expect from my first counseling session?

Your first session is primarily about getting to know your counselor and discussing what brought you to seek counseling. You’ll talk about your current challenges, goals for therapy, and any questions you might have. It’s a chance for you and your counselor to build rapport and develop a plan for your counseling journey. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with; it’s all about setting the stage for future work together.

How long does each counseling session last?

Typically, counseling sessions last about 50-60 minutes. The frequency and total number of sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals, which you’ll discuss with your counselor.

Is counseling confidential?

Yes, counseling is confidential. The trust between a client and counselor is paramount. Information shared in sessions will not be disclosed without your consent, except in specific circumstances where there is a legal duty to do so, such as risk of harm to yourself or others.

Do you offer telehealth services?

Yes, Roots Family Counseling offers telehealth services for clients who prefer or require remote counseling. Telehealth sessions are conducted via a secure online platform, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. This option provides flexibility for those with busy schedules or for whom coming to the office is not feasible.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by contacting Roots Family Counseling directly via phone at 941.587.9594 or by sending an email to therapy@rootsfamilycounseling.com.
